SharonAI Holdings enters the back half of September with one of the most lopsided options setups in its brief history — call buyers are running the table while short sellers quietly reduce exposure, all against a backdrop of activist holders circling and a stock that has already gained 26% in a week.
The options picture is the starkest signal right now. Call demand has overwhelmed puts to an almost extreme degree, with the put/call ratio collapsing to 0.19 — more than two standard deviations below its 20-day average of 0.31. That is close to the lowest PCR reading of the past year. The message is unambiguous: traders are positioned for the rally to continue, not hedge against a reversal. The setup is consistent with a short squeeze dynamic building momentum rather than a market bracing for disappointment.
The lending market has been through whiplash. Through most of August and into early September, availability was crushed — hitting near-zero on September 15 and 16, meaning the lending pool was essentially exhausted. That has since eased materially. Availability recovered to 46% by September 22, up from roughly 5% just a week earlier. Borrowing costs tell the same story in reverse: cost to borrow has almost halved over the past month, from above 6.5% to just over 3%. Short interest has fallen roughly 10% on the week and 20% over the past month, now estimated at around 2.38 million shares. The squeeze that left the borrow market bone-dry through early September appears to have forced some shorts out — and the survivors are paying less to hold their ground. Positioning looks less combative than it did a month ago, even as the stock has continued higher.
Street coverage is still thin but directionally bullish. Northland Capital Markets initiated with an Outperform rating last week, setting a target of $95. Cantor Fitzgerald holds an Overweight but trimmed its target to $109 in August from $116 after the most recent earnings. B. Riley initiated at Buy with a $124 target in July. The consensus mean target is $110 — well above the current price of $63.21 and internally consistent with a stock that only recently re-rated sharply higher. Bulls point to SharonAI's positioning in AI and high-performance computing infrastructure, contracted revenue, and data center expansion as the structural drivers. Bears flag a short operating history, heavy reliance on debt financing, NVIDIA vendor concentration, and dilution risk as the stock scales. The EV/EBITDA multiple has drifted to 3.5x — low for the sector — though the company is currently unprofitable, making traditional PE comparisons uninformative. Peers have had a strong week too: BRUN gained 26%, APLD rose 22%, and WYFI added 20% — so some of SHAZ's 26% weekly gain reflects sector-wide momentum rather than company-specific re-rating.
The ownership register is one of the most notable features of this stock. SHAZ has an active 13D activist presence — four separate holders have filed Schedule 13Ds with the SEC: James Edward Manning (8.95%), Nicholas Hughes-Jones (8.1%), Andrew Leece (9.05%), and Situational Awareness LP, which filed an amendment as recently as September 17 disclosing a 21.1% stake. Together, these four Schedule 13D filers control well over 47% of the company on their last disclosures. Situational Awareness LP also added approximately 2.67 million shares as recently as September 15 through what appears to be a warrant-type conversion at a nominal price. The insider transaction log reflects these same events. Oaktree Capital and Millennium Management have both trimmed positions slightly since their peak holdings, each now disclosed just under 5%. As always with 13D/G filings, stakes are as-last-disclosed around the 5% threshold and positions can change without a further filing requirement once below that level. The concentration of activist capital at a majority of the float is a structural feature that limits freely available borrow — and helps explain why the lending market can go from fully exhausted to partially recovered within days.
With earnings scheduled for November 6, the next six weeks set up as a period where options positioning, short score — currently 66 and broadly stable after touching 68 earlier this month — and any further activist filing amendments will be the key variables to track.
