Semiconductor and tech insiders filed a flurry of large sales this week. The pattern is hard to ignore.
Applied Materials saw its biggest wave of insider selling in recent memory. CEO Gary Dickerson filed sales totalling over $35M last week. The filings hit on June 17. Division President Prabu Raja added another $20M in sales filed June 5. The company's Chairman also sold $5.5M worth of shares. Seven insiders sold a combined $107M in total over the past month.
Dell Technologies tells a similar story. Silver Lake Group, a 10% owner with board representation, filed nearly $870M in sales. The bulk were logged on June 4–8. Dell's General Counsel Richard Rothberg separately sold $8.2M worth of shares, filed June 17.
Not all the action is selling. Itochu Corporation has been steadily buying shares of SKY Perfect JSAT, filing purchases across five separate sessions totalling over $63M. CSPC Pharmaceutical's Executive Chairman Cai Dong Chen bought $12.8M on June 22 — the same day it was filed.
The divergence is striking. Asian insiders are buying. US tech executives are cashing out.
