Short sellers made bold moves this week. Two names saw short interest jump sharply. Others rushed for the exit.
HPK (HighPeak Energy) saw its SI % of free float jump to 42.5% from 33.8% — an 8.6 percentage point rise in just seven days. The small-cap oil producer is now firmly in bears' crosshairs amid rising Middle East tensions pushing energy costs higher.
CAPR (Capricor Therapeutics) climbed to 44.6% SI % FF, up 7.5pp on the week. Availability sits at just 23% of short interest — meaning borrow is tight and any squeeze could hurt.
KVYO (Klaviyo) also drew fresh short sellers, with SI % FF jumping from 13.2% to 20.0% in a week. Bears appear skeptical of the marketing software firm's valuation.
CHWY (Chewy) delivered the week's most notable short cover. SI % FF dropped from 62.2% to 46.2% — a 16pp decline. Shorts appear to be de-risking the popular meme-adjacent name.
WOLF (Wolfspeed) also saw covering, falling to 73.7% SI % FF from 82.6%. Still the most heavily shorted meaningful name on the board.
LUCK (Lucky Strike Entertainment) carries an ORTEX short score of 94, with 25.6 days to cover. EVCM (EverCommerce) scores 94 as well, with 20 days to cover — both remain prime squeeze candidates.
