Bill Gates has been on a quiet buying spree. Filings disclosed this week show he spent over $562 million on Republic Services shares across 44 separate transactions between August 10 and August 25.
The purchases ranged from roughly $820,000 to $48 million per trade. Gates paid between $217 and $224 per share throughout the campaign. The filings were reported to regulators on August 24 and 26.
Republic Services is one of the largest waste management companies in the United States. Gates has long held a significant stake in the firm. This latest buying cluster suggests he is adding meaningfully to that position.
Across the Atlantic, a major shareholder in Swedish gaming giant Evolution AB disclosed two large purchases worth a combined $716 million. Kenneth Dart bought over 10 million shares in late July at around 690–695 SEK each. Those filings landed on August 26.
Elsewhere, Kingsoft Corporation saw its largest shareholder Xiaomi Corp buy nearly $27 million worth of shares across three days this week. The transactions were all filed today.
Meanwhile, Techtronic Industries CEO Steven Richman filed a share sale on August 27, covering around 107,000 shares at roughly HK$142 each.
The Gates buying pattern in RSG is the standout story. Sustained accumulation over two weeks at consistent prices rarely signals anything other than long-term conviction in the underlying business.
