Short sellers made bold new bets last week. Klaviyo saw the sharpest move among mid-caps. Its SI % FF jumped nearly 7 points in a week to 20%. Bears appear to be questioning the email-marketing platform's growth trajectory amid a tough SaaS environment.
Space Exploration Technologies also drew fresh shorting. SI hit 23.6%, up 6.75 points in seven days. With the stock commanding a near-$2 trillion valuation, skeptics are growing.
Wolfspeed remains one of the most shorted large names on the market at 72% of free float. Shorts eased slightly — down 6.2 points — but availability is effectively zero. That makes any squeeze scenario dangerous for latecoming bears.
1-800-Flowers sits at 74% SI % FF, one of the highest among recognisable consumer names. Days to cover stand at 29. That's a crowded short with limited room to exit quickly.
On the other side, Chewy saw a sharp short-covering rally. SI dropped nearly 12 points to 46.8%. Bears have been exiting a position that looked crowded going into summer. e.l.f. Beauty also shed 7 points of short interest, dropping to 6.9% — a clear capitulation by bears who had targeted the cosmetics brand.
Capital Southwest grabbed attention after ORTEX flagged 100% utilization and minimal availability. Short squeeze pressure is mounting on the BDC stock as borrowable shares run dry.
