Wells Fargo analyst Michael Turrin made two sharp calls today. He cut Adobe from Buy to Sell, slashing his target to $225 from $270. At the same time, he upgraded Tyler Technologies from Hold to Buy, lifting his target from $335 to $400. The same analyst, opposite directions, same session.
Adobe carries a $94bn market cap and short interest sits at 4.6% of free float. The Sell rating now puts Turrin against the majority: 23 analysts still hold the stock, and 11 rate it Buy. That consensus gap could prompt further reviews.
Tyler Technologies, a government software specialist valued at $13.5bn, had its short interest at 8.1% of free float. Only five analysts were at Hold before today's upgrade. The $400 target implies meaningful upside from current levels.
Elsewhere, RBC Capital raised its target on ServiceNow to $176 from $130, maintaining Buy. RBC also lifted to $320 from $280. Both moves reflect continued confidence in enterprise software spending.
RBC's Tom Narayan raised his target on General Motors to $102 from $100. German car registration data, which ORTEX Alt Data measures as a 15-day leading indicator for GM revenue, is running 133% above the same quarter last year. GM reports on 20 October.
GoDaddy was downgraded to Hold from Buy at RBC, though the target held at $95.
