Target prices are falling across several sectors this week. The cuts are broad but the drivers differ.
NXPI saw the biggest semiconductor cut. The consensus target for NXP Semiconductors dropped to $306.66 from $306.72, a modest trim. Yet the direction matters: 21 analysts still rate it a hold, and the downward move adds to pressure on the chip sector.
EFX drew a sharper cut. Analysts trimmed the Equifax consensus target to $200.71 from $203.10, a drop of roughly $2.40. The credit data firm sits in a soft patch for VA loan volume, which fell for a third straight month in September 2026 to 43,072 loans and $17.2bn. That is a real-economy headwind for credit services businesses.
Waste sector names saw coordinated moves. WM, RSG, and all had consensus targets shaved within the same session. The trims were small but simultaneous, suggesting a sector-wide reset.
On the positive side, META bucked the trend. The consensus target for Meta Platforms rose to $801.41 from $799.00. With 53 buy ratings, it remains one of the most widely covered and most bullish large-cap names.
VLO and PSX also got upgrades. Valero Energy's consensus target jumped to $401.53 from $391.89. Phillips 66 rose to $274.16 from $269.95. Refining names are drawing fresh interest from the Street.
