A wave of modest target price reductions swept across industrial and data names on Tuesday, while Wall Street moved the other way on energy refiners and social media.
NXP Semiconductors took the most eye-catching cut in the chip space. The consensus target fell to $306.66 from $306.72, a haircut that reflects lingering caution on semiconductor demand even as the stock holds a strong buy tilt from 21 analysts.
Equifax saw its average target trimmed to $200.71 from $203.09. The credit data group is coming off a period of softer mortgage-related volumes. The VA loan data underscores the pressure. VA loans guaranteed across all lenders fell for a third straight month in September 2026, to 43,072 loans, with total volume dropping to $17.2bn.
Waste management names took small knocks. Waste Management, Republic Services and all saw consensus targets edge lower. The moves are minor but the direction is consistent.
The brighter calls came in energy. Valero Energy saw its consensus target jump to $401.53 from $391.89. Phillips 66 also rose, to $274.16 from $269.95. Both carry a majority hold or buy rating split and appear to be benefiting from refining margin optimism.
Meta Platforms gained ground too. Its average target climbed to $801.41 from $798.99, keeping it the most bullishly covered mega-cap with 53 buy ratings.
