The US Consumer Price Index for all items reached 336.94 in September 2026. That is the highest reading since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began publishing the CPI-U series in 1997. The headline number lands against a more nuanced picture underneath it.
Core CPI, which strips out food and energy, fell to an annual rate of 2.6% in September. That is the smallest September reading in five years, down from 3.0% in September 2025. The two prints pull in different directions. The all-items index is at a historic peak. The underlying rate is at its softest September since 2021. Both readings come from the BLS CPI-U series.
The Atlas EV Hub's Colorado registration data for July 2026 shows battery-electric vehicles at 160,820 units, up 16% on July 2025. Total plug-in vehicles, including plug-in hybrids, rose 12% year-on-year to 215,105. Colorado is a leading adopter state, so the figures are not a national proxy, but the direction is consistent with a market that is still expanding.

Three companies report within the next week, and for each, ORTEX has measured an independent registration dataset to lead their reported revenue out of sample.
German new-car registrations lead GM revenue by 15 days, with a strong fit. For the quarter being reported on 20 October, that dataset is running 133% above the same quarter last year, with all three months in.
For TSLA, reporting 21 October, German registrations lead revenue by 43 days, also a strong fit. The same dataset is running 269% above the year-earlier quarter, with three of three months complete.
RNO reports 22 October. Austrian registrations lead Renault revenue by 32 days, a moderate fit, and are running 6% above the prior-year quarter. Dutch registrations, also a measured lead with a moderate fit and a 43-day lead time, are running 40% below the same quarter last year. All three months are in for both series.
These are where the registration data points for the quarters being reported. They are not revenue forecasts.
