Options markets are pricing for a volatile week in autos. Tesla reports Q3 results on 21 October. German new-car registrations, which ORTEX data shows leads Tesla revenue by 43 days with a strong fit, are running 269% ahead of the same quarter last year. That reading is pointing sharply higher for three consecutive months.
General Motors reports a day earlier, on 20 October. The setup is more complicated. ORTEX consumer credit data shows GM auto loan delinquencies sitting 1.2 standard deviations above their own history as of 29 September. That is a divergence worth watching. Honda Motor looks cleaner: its equivalent delinquency reading is 0.8 standard deviations below history.
The macro backdrop adds pressure across the board. US core CPI hit 339.287 in September 2026, its highest reading since the series began in 1997. The annual rate rose to 3.7%, the highest September reading in two years. Higher-for-longer rates tighten the screws on auto financing at exactly the wrong moment for leveraged consumers.
In a separate signal, SITE Centers jumped 19% after hours on undisclosed news. REIT options desks will be active.
Meanwhile, the MSCI World rebalance deadline falls Sunday. Fabrinet faces a 49% deletion probability after its odds leapt from 8% overnight. Trackers would need to sell $826M, equal to 2.4 days of normal volume. Three sessions remain.
