Financials and transport stocks dominated analyst desks on Saturday, with a split verdict on US regional banks and a clear-cut trim for trucking.
PNC drew opposite calls from two firms. Oppenheimer's Chris Kotowski raised his target to $269 from $263, reiterating Buy. RBC Capital's Gerard Cassidy cut his target sharply to $250 from $273, also at Buy. The gap between the two targets now stands at $19. USB saw the same split. Kotowski lifted his target to $73 while Cassidy trimmed to $65 from $68.
The sharpest single move was on PNC from RBC. A $23 cut is notable when the Buy rating stays in place. It suggests Cassidy sees near-term pressure without abandoning the thesis.
JBHT took a clean target cut. Wells Fargo's Christian Wetherbee dropped his price target to $285 from $305, holding Buy. US international airport seats flown have risen for three consecutive months through July 2026, per ORTEX alt data. That points to demand holding up. But trucking faces its own cycle, and J.B. Hunt's exposure to intermodal freight makes it sensitive to industrial volumes.
EFX received the day's only outright downgrade. Oppenheimer's Rayna Kumar cut Equifax to Hold from Buy. No new target was issued. A downgrade with no target is often a signal of near-term uncertainty rather than a structural view. DHI and SWK each saw Wells Fargo trim targets by $5, both held at Hold.
TRV bucked the trend. Consensus target prices edged up to $361 from $361, a modest lift ahead of earnings season.
