Analysts upgraded two major tech names today. AMAT and PANW both received consensus upgrades, with Applied Materials lifting its average target price to $627.83. Palo Alto Networks held its target at $398.52 while gaining a buy from a previously neutral analyst.
IDXX also drew an upgrade. IDEXX Laboratories, the veterinary diagnostics group, saw its average target rise to $705.50 as one analyst moved from hold to buy. Short interest stands at just 2.4% of free float, so bears are a marginal presence.
On the downside, oilfield services names faced target cuts. SLB and BKR both had price targets trimmed, with SLB's consensus target dipping to $62.38 and Baker Hughes to $71.04. Neither saw a rating change, but the direction is clear.
Regional banks also took hits. RF and MTB had targets cut modestly. TFC lost a recommendation outright, removing one analyst from its coverage universe.
The pattern today is two-speed. Tech and healthcare attracted buyers, while energy services and banks drew caution. With GM and TSLA both reporting this week, German car registration data tracked by ORTEX Alt Data is running well above year-ago levels, which adds context to why some analysts may be sharpening their pencils on related industrial supply chains ahead of the prints.
