This week is one of the busiest of the year for corporate results. Tesla reports Q3 on Tuesday after the close, followed by Netflix the same evening. General Motors goes pre-market on Monday. Those datasets lead each company's revenue by 43 and 15 days respectively. Both are pointing higher for the quarter being reported.
Short sellers are making bold moves ahead of results. Chewy saw short interest jump 25 percentage points in a single week to 91.3% of free float. Availability remains ample at 435%, so bears are not being forced out. The Trade Desk heads into its own print with about a fifth of its float still held short. The stock has lost 68% year-to-date. Vertiv Holdings carries a 14-day RSI of just 27, deep in oversold territory, while analysts see 62% upside from here.
The MSCI World November review locks its ranking on 19 October. Fabrinet has swung to a near coin-flip on deletion, with a 49% probability now attached to $826M of forced selling. Zalando sits 3.4% below its MSCI exit line, carrying a 54% deletion probability and $357M of potential selling. CVC Capital's agreed takeover of Italian pharma firm Recordati puts $218M of FTSE MIB selling in play, with completion expected by mid-November.
Malaysia recorded its largest September for new car sales since 2017, at 74,122 units. Battery-electric registrations there rose 69% year-on-year. US international passenger enplanements rose for a third straight month to July, reaching 11.5 million, supporting the consumer resilience picture heading into results season.
