Eurozone Prices Climb as India Auto Sales Surge

European Inflation on the Move

Eurostat flash estimates for September show Spain's Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices annual rate reaching 5.0%. That marks a third consecutive monthly rise. France followed the same trajectory, with its HICP annual rate climbing to 3.4% in September, also a third straight month of gains. The breadth of the move matters. Two of the eurozone's four largest economies are now printing accelerating inflation simultaneously, with neither showing any sign of the trend reversing in the monthly data.

India's Vehicle Market Accelerates

India domestic vehicle sales hit 740,588 units in September, according to the vehicle registration data ORTEX ingests from domestic industry filings. That is 26% above the same month last year. The scale of the gain is not a rounding error. A 26% year-on-year print in a market the size of India's represents a substantial volume addition in absolute terms. The reading covers September 2026 in full and sits well above the pace seen through the first half of the year.

Attention Spikes and an Output Drop to Watch

Two retail attention readings stand out from ORTEX's Wikipedia view tracker, which monitors page-traffic volumes against each company's own history. CNDA saw retail attention register 10.0 standard deviations above its own history on 22 September. JPST recorded the same extreme reading one day later, on 23 September. Readings this far from a series' own baseline are rare by definition. The dataset does not say what drove the attention, only that it arrived.

On the supply side, DTE nuclear reactor output fell to 10.0 standard deviations below its own history on 9 September, per ORTEX's nuclear output tracker. That is an extreme departure from DTE's own production record. The data covers a single date and does not indicate whether output has since recovered.

None of the datasets in this block are described as measured to lead a near-term earnings print, so no company reading here is treated as a leading indicator for an upcoming report.
