Options Flows Eye Earnings, ETF Frenzy

Earnings season is driving unusual options activity across several key names. Retail attention around the Goldman Sachs S&P 500 Premium Income ETF (GPIX) spiked 10 standard deviations above its own history in the week to 21 October, per Wikipedia page-view data. That is the kind of extreme crowd focus that historically precedes crowded positioning.

SanDisk reports tonight. The stock is up 492% year-to-date. Options expiries are clustered around 30 October and 6 November, putting maximum pressure on market makers today. Availability of shares to borrow is over 4,000% of short interest, so there is very little short pressure. Call buyers appear to be dominating the near-term flow.

Palantir carries an ORTEX stock score of 82 and analyst consensus has shifted bullish recently. Options expiries run through January 2027. The broad setup favours call positioning into a growth story with improving analyst coverage.

Apple faces its next earnings print in November. Options chains run all the way to January 2027. The stock is up 26% year-to-date. Analysts see roughly 3% downside to target price, which is unusually bearish relative to history. That gap often draws protective put buying ahead of results.

Chip names Micron and Nvidia remain the most active for positive options bets over the past week. Advanced Micro Devices sits up 170% year-to-date with bets still skewing positive.

Today is also the Russell 2000 December ranking cut-off. ORTEX forecasts roughly 45 additions and 14 deletions from the 97 names still in play. Forced index flows hit on 11 December, making small-cap options a live trade between now and the 13 November announcement.
